Apart from your first course being My Dog's Breeding Passport, you are free to select whichever order you fancy. In the rare event there is a pre-requisite course recommended, this will be made clear in the sales page for that course.
Can I leave public feedback?
Yes. Every lecture has room for you to publicly add your comments. These are not pre-screened. Transparency is a key part of being a great dog breeder and this extends to the MDWP School too!

Lady Fi

Lady Fi (Fiona Douglas) is a pet dog breeding expert who, together with husband David, trail blazed professional purebred pet dog breeding in Australia.

She is founder of the My Dog Wants Puppies School (2017) and principal instructor.

Lady Fi became a dog breeder in 2005 when she formed Dachshund Australia. Since this time she has met with overseas breeders and imported dachshund patterns and colours not before seen in Australia.

Dachshund Australia’s health and happy puppies are highly sought after by families both nationally and internationally.

Animal welfare is close to Lady Fi’s heart. Most recently, she contributed a pet welfare initiative that became law in December 2017 under the Victorian Government Puppy Farms legislation.

In collaboration with industry colleagues, she has helped progress the use of science in dog breeding. For example, bringing ultrasound technology to fellow dog breeders so they can more accurately determine if an emergency cesarean is needed, foetal comfort/distress, foetal age, and whelping date.

She represented pet dog breeders on the Victorian Government industry advisory panel for the revision of the Victorian Dog Breeding Code of Practice,. She did this in her capacity as voluntary executive officer of the Australian Association of Pet Dog Breeders Inc. (AAPDB). Currently she is a member of the AAPDB committee.

At 56 years of age, Lady Fi brings to the My Dog Wants Puppies School her enduring passion for dogs, underpinned by her professional and business experience, her formal training and her personal experiences as a dog breeder.

She holds an honours degree in Agricultural Science, a masters degree in Social Work and she is a qualified Professional Counsellor.

My Dog Wants Puppies School is the culmination of Lady Fi’s life journey to date, calling on her skills in the areas of writing, teaching, scientific understanding, and her compassion…all this powered by her deep love of dogs.

Background prior to breeding

David and Lady Fi got their first dachshund in 1983; a standard black & tan smooth hair called Gina. A dachshund has been by their side ever since.

Fiona started her career in the 1980s as a lecturer in horticulture. When David and Fiona’s daughters were born, she started a business, Inkling, as a freelance agricultural journalist and educational consultant. This business grew, allowing David to leave his work and the family to leave Melbourne and head to the countryside.
